I’d like to adapt Blog Way to a website with a static front page and I don’t want the sidebar. Is it possible to completely remove it? If not, do you have another theme that has the same “look” as Blog Way – which I really like, and which I’ve come to understand how to customize – but does not require the sidebar?

You can go to Appearance >> Customize >> Post Options and select no sidebar. But note that it will remove sidebar from whole site.
If you want to remove sidebar only from homepage it will be better to create the child theme of Blog Way and customize it.
